The Volvo 240, produced by the Swedish automaker Volvo from 1974 to 1993, is one of the company's most iconic vehicles. Renowned for its robust build quality, comfort, and safety features, the 240 series became a global sales success and solidified Volvo's reputation for durability and reliability.

Over the years, the Volvo 240 was offered with a variety of engines. Petrol engines ranged from a 2.1L inline-four producing around 97 horsepower to a 2.3L turbocharged inline-four producing up to 155 horsepower. Diesel options were also available, notably a 2.4L six-cylinder with 82 horsepower. Engines were paired with a 4-speed manual, 5-speed manual, or a 3- or 4-speed automatic transmission.

The Volvo 240 was never intended as a high-performance vehicle. Instead, it offered steady and reliable performance, with a smooth ride and good handling for its size. It was easy to drive, with the turbocharged versions providing a decent amount of power for those seeking a bit more performance.

The Volvo 240, available as a two-door coupe, four-door sedan, or five-door station wagon, had a boxy yet charming design. Read more
