The Mazda 323 was first introduced in 1977 and is a line of compact cars produced by the Japanese automaker Mazda. It has been sold worldwide, under various names, including the Familia, Astina and Laser in some markets. The most popular variant was the Protege, which was available from 1993 to 2003.
Throughout its production run, the Mazda 323 was known for its dependability, affordability and sprightly performance. It featured a wide range of engines, including four-cylinder gasoline and diesel options as well as turbocharged variants. Depending on the model year and engine choice, the Mazda 323 could produce between 85 to 145 horsepower.
The Mazda 323 was available in both hatchback and sedan body styles. It featured a range of convenience features, from air conditioning and power windows to cruise control and heated seats. Safety equipment included driver's side airbag, anti-lock brakes, traction control and electronic stability control.
